Registration of Jamaat-e-Islami is cancelled based on 4 reasons

Election commission issued notification about banning registration of Jamaat-e-Islami. This notification has been issued based on the verdict of the High Court. Source informed that, this party has been banned after following the rules of Representation of the People Order (RPO).
The RPO rules were followed after the verdict of the court. Secretary of Election Commission Helaluddin Ahmed signed this notice on 29th October. Some reasons were considered before banning the registration of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Reasons behind cancellation of the registration

Firstly, ‘people are the source of all power’ is not the policy of Jamaat-e-Islami. That is why; they do not believe that representatives of the people should not have all the power. It is contradictory to People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
Secondly, according to the Representation of the People Order (RPO), a communal party cannot be registered. But, Jamaat is communal minded. Their actions, beliefs and speeches represent that. A communal party is unable to represent all the communities of a nation.

Thirdly, a registered political party cannot discriminate among religions, races and genders. But Jamaat forbids woman or a non-Muslim person to be the head of the party. This is considered as community level partiality.

Fourthly, no party can have a branch in the foreign countries. But Jamaat is a branch of a foreign party. They also say that, their party was born in India and they have branches in lots of countries. This contradicts with the constitution of Bangladesh.

Jamaat-e-Islami registered them as a political party on 2008 during the army supported Care Taker Government. In 2009 some eminent leaders of the Muslims in Bangladesh challenged the registration of Jamaat. These leaders are, Syed Rezaul Haque-Secretary General of Tariqat Federation, Munshi Abdul Latif-Secretary General of Zaker Party, Maulana Ziaul Hasan-President of Combined Islami Alliance (Shommilito Islami Jote) and 22 other leaders. The verdict of their writ has been announced after 9 years and now the registration of Jamaat-e-Islami has finally revoked.
